My own Sly Stallone “Rocky” story
Now the reason why this Story resonates with me Is for a few reasons and I’ll try to give a base of what I’m talking about it was around the dawn of 2012. I was broke unemployed and extremely behind on my rent due to my choppy payments as with most situations in shadow of that my marriage was falling apart I started spending less time at home and more time out looking for work where the gas to and fro started eating what little fabric I had in my pockets.
As I was looking for jobs online I started thinking about trying to build my own business so I was searching for low cost start ups and I found an opportunity I wanted to test out in order to start it I would have to come up with a min. investment of $4500.00 with a cap at $10000.00 so I started searching for funding.
Due to discrepancies on my credit report I did not qualify for a loan. So I tried to go for a small business loan by building a professional business plan and attending seminars by SCORE and I enrolled in a community based organization by the name of C.E.E.E.D (Center for Education Employment and Entrepreneurial Development) where I devised a business plan to include an ex offender program I called FAP the Felony Assistance Program where I would Hire Bond and Counsel Ex offenders for a successful re entry back into their community.
As my goals were growing and taking on significant value and purpose. My marriage continued to plunge into a dark abyss of Hell my higher power and I surrendered to my higher self in hopes of saving myself and marriage. Lo and behold it turned to a dark lonely road as far as my significant other was concerned the one great outcome of this was introducing my children to that higher power that would guide and protect them for their existence.
I finally caught a break and landed a job I also was introduced to the GIN affiliate program (free Version)

I’ve learned and acquired some valuable information from GIN and still follow a lot of what they teach like the Law of attraction and success. I just did not make a dime off of it but I applied a lot of it to my life this very moment and I realize nothing happens by accident everything is part of the great design of ones destiny if harnessed intelligently and positively even the pain and what seems like misfortune is all a great part of that design. I would immediately learn a valuable lesson in this.
I start out as a cab driver for a short period of time until I receive a call for an interview for a job working as a “flagger” holding a STOP/SLOW paddle for the Pennsylvania D.O.T. I enjoyed my position there. Things at home seemed to get worse especially on my most exhausting days to the point I would be forced to sleep in my van or hang out at a local pub just to vent and get some social relief to keep my spirits up especially when my church doors were closed.
I would soon invest in keeping myself away from home as much as possible It was like a battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. I joined a gym went to church every time the doors opened. It became my home so I enrolled in their theology program and was doing pretty well I enjoyed all the things that kept my brain operating in a new direction.
As things were starting to look up I enrolled into a Truck Driving school in which I received a grant from the VA GI bill I took full advantage of it. 2 weeks before I start my Truck Driver training I’m at the gym it was 5:45pm July 17th 2012 I receive a call from work it’s administration they informed me that I have been nominated for promotion to crew leader and they need to would be scheduling me for the net available test date. I was speechless It was within my first 90 days of the job I gladly accepted the promotional offer.
I’m so excited I dart to the changing room shower and change to spread the news to my family as I leave and jump into my car I put the key in the ignition and it wont start. Ok no problem its not the first time so I pull out my battery boost and give it a couple of cranks and nothing. So I go for plan B my verizon driod razr max has an auto protection plan for a small monthly fee. I call they come and give it a shot a couple of shots and nothing its now 9pm. Im like ok what now I call my buddy and former Cable supervisor and he tells me to sit tight he’ll scoop me up by 10 pm he just got off his last job at 9:30pm. I wait he arrives I get home and give my family the not so good news first and then the would be good news next.
I immediately contact my job and inform them of my dilemma and they place me somewhere near my home and a crew leader would come pick me up. After work the next day I return to the gym and try to start my van and nothing its dead so I just grab my forehead gasp turn around and go to the gym for my last workout there for a while before leaving the gym I call the towing company and ride with him to the nearest mechanic to my house.$900.00 dollars is the bill I cant afford rent is due and I still owe a few thousand on my rent…….
