Why Homeschool Has Been One Of The Best Decisions We’ve Every Made For The Future Of Our Children.
There are many reasons that we chose to homeschool our children and I’d like to share here with you why homeschool has become part of our lives and why we believe it has been the best decision we’ve ever made.
Growing up, my family would move around from country to country including the U.S. Mexico and Guatemala. Within the U.S. we lived on both East and West Coasts. The reason we moved around so much was because my dad was a violinist and he played with different symphonic orchestras at the time. Additionally, my dad played with all the big bands during the 70’s and 80’s in Las Vegas, NV.
I still remember a few superstars that I personally met as a kid like Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis, Barbara Streisand, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and other big names in the industry. It was pretty cool to get to be backstage when they were rehearsing. I will always cherish those memories.
Back Packing With Some Friends In Venezuela
I guess that’s where I got the “bug” of wanting to travel. So when I was in college, I went backpacking through South America. To this date, I still stay in contact with many people I met in these countries almost 20 years ago. Even though the majority of South American countries speak spanish, their cultures are a world of difference and it was an eye opener for me to say the least on how each one of these cultures are so different from one another.
While all that was happening, my wife was also growing up travelling. But in her case, she travelled with her high school choir touring all Europe every year. Our travelling was obviously for different purposes; however we both realized the value and importance of learning about different cultures and their history.
This was one of the many things that made us be attracted to each other. We loved traveling and we promised ourselves that we would give that to our children so they can experience it in the same way we did.
Why Homeschool? This Is My Why.
We found that homeschooling was perfect to accomplish this. With homeschool, we don’t have to be tied to a schedule or a specific school. We can pick up and leave whenever we want and travel throughout the world as we please.
The travelling idea is where it all started, but we had to research if our children would receive the proper education we wanted them to have. We then found out that when you take a regular school setting with 30 students and only one teacher compared to a homeschool setting where we are able to provide 100% attention to our child, it made perfect sense that in a homeschool setting our children would receive better education because it’s in OUR best and not in some other strangers’ hands. You will never get that in a regular school setting. It is virtually impossible.
Why Homeschool Is Safer For My Kids
Another reason is safety. There’s not a week that doesn’t go by when you turn on the news and hear about guns, drugs or other problems happening at public schools around the country. If that is happening today, how will it be in another 5-10 years? Did we want our children grow up within that environment? Of course not! Which is another strong reason why homeschool was our 1st option and why we do it today.
Travelling to Lopez Islands
According to the Huffington Post, home-schooled children outperform traditional schooled children. The reasons are pretty much the same as I outlined above. More dedication from their teachers (their parents). Though where parents are involved in public school activities, children tend to perform much better academically.
So, the list goes on and on. In a nutshell, we homeschool because we love to be involved in our children’s education. We love traveling and we want our children to receive their education within a safe environment free of corruption, guns and drugs. This of course may not apply to the majority of public schools out there, but we weren’t willing to take the risk.

State where we live in as an independent school. Our school’s name is “IMAGO DEI”, which is Latin for “Image of God”. We live our lives around these words. We try to be the best we can as human beings in the image of God so we can set the best example for our children.
